Ace of Phthia
Ace of Phthia is a short, 4-minute piece for a chamber orchestra consisting of a wind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn) and a string quintet (two violins, viola, cello, and bass). It was written as an assignment for the Sävellyspaja masterclass with Jukka Tiensuu and Tomi Räisänen and it was premiered by Avanti! chamber orchestra at the Suvisoitto festival in Porvoo, Finland, on June 30th, 2024.
It is dedicated to the memory of a close friend of mine that I lost in the spring of 2024.
